Infantile Reflux and GERD

Infantile Reflux and GERD Reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), occurs when the contents of the stomach start to ascend up the esophagus causing heartburn and irritation. Infants with reflux will often have persistent "spit up." Recently, the use of drugs to treat GERD has increased dramatically, especially among the pediatric population, even though safety measures have not been set or tested.  This is one reason many parents are seeking new solutions such as chiropractic.

A 2016 case report described a 1-month old girl who presented to a chiropractic office with GERD that worsened at night. Initially, the girl saw improvements that lasted about a day. Over 3 months of care, the patient continued to improve!  In fact, her symptoms didn't come back until she missed her first appointment!

By analyzing and correcting interference in the nerves controlling the stomach, the little girl was able to
function better. The goal of chiropractic is to improve function and allow the body to heal naturally! Remember, healing takes time and repetition. No matter the symptom, chiropractic keeps you living healthy!
